CHAPTER VII – TECHNOLOGY and R&D
Chemistry Laboratory
Sectional Directorate
It was established: i) to control the quality of the materials used in constructions of DSİ, to
evaluate them according to standards, and to explore the application methods, and ii) to
determine the quality of lakes, rivers and groundwater and to examine the reasons of pollution.
Subdivisions

Sectional Directorate
By applying isotope techniques to hydrology, it was established in 1960s in order to contribute to
hydrological and hydrogelogical survey and researches in DSI activities on water researches
development. It was supported by UNESCO during the establishment years and by International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in subsequent years.
Subdivisions:
Isotope Laboratory Sectional Directorate is composed of 3 subdivisions:
1)Stable Isotope Laboratory, 2)Tritium and Carbon 14 Laboratory, and 3)Water Radioactive
Pollution Control Laboratory.
